Non-profit organization (NPO)

Non-profit organizations were almost nonexistent in China before the onset of economic reforms, in the 1980s. Various forms of non-profit organizations have become the important force of Chinese social development and progress. China’s social development is getting more attention then ever and this is only increasing. In China, the non-profit sector is a very huge and complex system which includes not only the governmental mass organizations and the governmental not-for-profits in the old system, but also civil organizations on the margin of the system and various non-profit organizations acting outside of the system.

The incorporation procedure of a NPO is similar to the incorporation procedure of a RO except for the pre-approval of the industry related governmental department, which is necessary for a NPO.
