Examples of China Events

In September 2005, Eyes on China organized Panorama Holland Books, the first presentation of Dutch books in China: event on the Beijing International Book Fair for Chinese publishers, on occasion of a China visit by a high level cultural delegation headed by the Dutch deputy minister of Culture, mrs. Medy van der Laan. Organised by Eyes on China and the Dutch embassy in Beijing on behalf of the Foundation for the promotion and translation of Dutch literature (NLPVF).

In January 2006, Eyes on China organized the Year Day (Jaardag) of NCDO in the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam. The theme of the event was the current situation of the Chinese community in The Netherlands. Hundreds of people, Chinese and non-Chinese, attended the celebration which featured hot discussions with Chinese artists and Chinese community leaders. Thereafter, an informal gathering was accompanied by a table tennis demonstration with Bettine Vriesekoop and Dutch-Chinese stars, a lion's dance, a projection of China-related images, sales of books on China, Chinese snacks, calligraphy and of course typical Chinese music in the background.
